Business with the City

The City of Bellevue's Finance Department procures products and services necessary for the city's operation. The Purchasing group generally manages purchases of products costing less than $35,000. Contracting Services oversees the competitive and contracting processes for services and public work.  If you are interested in selling products or services to the city, the following information will help you learn how:

PURCHASING
Purchases of material, supplies and equipment costing $35,000 or less do not require a formal competitive bid or public notice. Price quotations for such purchases may be solicited by telephone, mail, fax or by personal appointment. Purchases of material, supplies, and equipment costing $1,000 or less do not require a competitive process.

The Purchasing group manages the buying of materials, supplies and equipment for all departments. Vendors interested in doing business with the city are asked to contact Purchasing before making contact with any city department. Additionally, Purchasing  regularly solicits price quotes from vendors on the Citywide Vendor Roster. To register, go to the Citywide Vendor Roster Application.

CONTRACTING SERVICES
Through the Contracting Services group, the city contracts for various services, including construction, maintenance and professional services, and information technology services. Depending on the estimated cost of the work and other considerations, the city will issue bid solicitations, requests for proposals (RFPs) or requests for qualifications (RFQs).

Click on Bid Information to learn about current solicitations for services. In addition to posting bid information on this website, the city advertises large projects in the Legal Notice section of the Seattle Times and Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce

Notifications about most bid solicitations, RFPs, and RFQs are also sent electronically to businesses on our Citywide Vendor Roster. To get on the roster, complete the Citywide Vendor Roster Application. Businesses can register in any of the following areas:

  • Small Works Roster (public work, construction)
  • Professional Services (consulting, architectural, engineering services, legal services)
  • IT Services (Information Technology related services)
  • General Services (maintenance, non-professional services)
  • Supply Vendor Roster (materials, supplies, equipment)
