City planners, with direction from the Planning Commission, are considering proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan concerning new and existing electrical facilities in Bellevue.

These amendments guide the siting and expansion of electrical substations and transmission lines. Neighborhood associations and Puget Sound Energy are involved in the crafting of all possible amendments. The City Council wants to ensure that regulations protect residential neighborhoods from incompatible facilities while allowing PSE to meet Bellevue's growing demand for electrical power.

Amendments to the Comprehensive Plan are proposed each year. The amendments concerning electrical facilities have broad implications for large populations, so will undergo more of a public process before they come before the City Council for possible adoption.
